A couple weeks ago I noticed that my lower cover half had a broken mount. The lower cover half was cracked near 3/4 of the way around the mount ( 1/4" threaded hole ). I found a new lower half and replaced it using all my original parts other than the two gears that the tiller handle operate. Everything went together nicely until I tried to connect the shift linkage from the shift handle to the shift lock lever. It seems no matter where I adjust the linkage it won't shift the lower unit properly. It's either reverse & neutral or neutral & forward. The linkage adjustment had to be shortened all the way to make it even come close to reconnecting it. Prior to changing the cover there were no shift issues. Not sure where I went wrong. Any suggestions?
