I've been messing around with my new 75 horse chrysler for the past 2 days. It was popping and trying to start, but would only fire and run for about 1/2 a second. Fuel pump was all rebuilt and not working either. Investigating the basics, top cylinder is at 150 lbs, second is 60, and the third is 40. I was told it was running great until it stopped on a trip out. It was suspected the carbs sucked some dirt, but now I see why. Could it just be a blown head gasket? Why would 2 cylinders be low and the top not? Hoping to get it fixed for memorial day, but not looking like it now......

No such luck. The cylinder is scored on both the #2 and 3, it looks like part of the rings melted to them. I wondered why the overheat warning was disconnected, probably kept going off on them as they melted the engine down.

How had is it to replace rings on these things?

You don't replace the rings. You overbore the cylinders to the size needed to clean them up ( .010, .020, .030) and install oversized pistons and rings.

If you are a talented backyard mechanic, it is not a difficult jub at all. Almost no special tools are necessary.

Wheres the fastest place to order parts? I'm going to call the local boat yard in the morning, but the chances of them having the parts is slim to none I bet.

I found the parts local, had to order them in overnight. Whats the torque specs on the power head halves, head gasket, and exhaust port cover? I believe the rod bolts are 180 inch pounds?

Thank you! Does that include the bolts for the carb manifold to power head bots?
