74 merc 850 with no spark

I have a 74 merc 850. It wont spark most of the time, but if i check the switchbox and put it all back together It usually fires right up.

sounds like you have a bad wire somewhere i would start checking wires one by one and see what happens

The wires on the old Mercs are notorious for deteriorating. The insulation crumbles and the wires corode inside. I'd do as bullbat says and check your wiring and connections.
