Howdy KMSP,
Looks like another great project to work. Any history on the boat and what you are looking to do with it?

Oh boy you started a thread on your Holly :thumb:

Now that you're at the hull clean up and repair stage, be sure you pay close attention to the rib ends for cracks (on the inside and outside of hull) These cracks form after the boat, especially IO's that are used with rot compromised decking and side panels. This thread is the source of the pic below. https://forums.iboats.com/forum/boat...nd-hull-repair

1E97EA59-4D03-4520-9DA9-8C430B16315C.jpeg It’s been sitting for a few years with antifreeze in the block. I’m getting the head done now. The block, pistons and crank are fine. Just got the foam in the floor and most of the deck done. Transom done both waterproofed BCX plywood withe 2 coats urathane. This one is going to be sold this spring to help pay for my ‘68 Starcraft V-180 I’m doing now as well.

The Holiday would be worth twice as much and be twice as desirable as the glass boat.

Was that you're selling it the reply to my previous comment

No, SHSU asked what I was going to do with it.
your right I found small cracks under the river heads for the ribs. Pulled the one board now need to figure out the best repair.
the fiberglass has a deeper v hull and a 6 cyl and will work better for the rougher water. I didn’t think the aluminum would be worth more.
I saw the repair on the link you sent me, is there another way other than that? Thanks

There are always other ways... Just have to decide if you are ok with the fix you use.

Do you have aversion to re-riveting or just the method used in the other thread?

Side note:
Man if I had the room..... I would love to get my hands on another project like this. LOL

Don't tell the Admiral!!!

Welding sounds easy and may work but being close to a seam and where you have to replace the rivet would be more work than patching them, I've done it on my Chief and classiccat has as well.

Yeah you're probably more in the know about the glass boat being more suited for what you want, I just have an aluminum SC boat collection and have had 2 glass boats crushed... so yeah I'm a little biased

My rib end cracks were small and I was able to stop drill and patch with new rivets and 5200 to seal the deal.

I used Nautolex vinyl for deck covering on my boats and have no complaints about it. Defender has the best prices on it.

The side panel vinyl I got from Ebay, can't remember the store name right now. I went for paint in the bow over trying to get something to stick on the sides of the hull with everything going on up there.

I think I will use the Nautolex, reasonably priced. I’m thinking I will glue up the sides in the bow area and call it good plus I get the waterproofing as well. Pictures of the patches and the vinyl soon, thanks again.

So if the bow area is painted the vinyl adhesive will hold better?

So if the bow area is painted the vinyl adhesive will hold better?

I don't know if anything will help vinyl stick well to an uneven, nearly vertical surface and that's why most manufacturers used carpet. The ends of the vinyl will sooner or later peel if nothing is physically holding it down other than the adhesive.
