Serial J01350

So being a complete newbie to out boards i am seeking some direction, made simple the motor was checked for compression yielding some poor results. Cyl 1 110 cyl 2 20 cyl 3 90 psi. Carbs starter ignition actually every thing aside from the sea pump is in good working order.....so the big question do i rebuild this thing? If it were a 4 stroke v8 not even a question i would know how to move forward but a old two stroke i have no ideal. Thoughts and or inputs would be greatly appreciated here maybe a parts dist or kits if there avaible. The engine belongs on a 68 glastron Gt 150 which is in very good condition a little recon would take it to almost showroom quality and i am having a real itch to play with....Any input would be appreciated greatly trying to keep everything as stock as possible but any performance tips would be taken very seriously...

I the pump wasn't working and the engine overheated, you might get by with a fresh head gasket/head resurfacing.

If it overheated, you can bet the farm that it sprayed water in through the exhaust ports after the overheat condition was fixed. See your other thread.

There are better options to rebuild.--Cost is the same.----Look for a 1980 to 85 model 70 hp.

Looks like it had a case of indigestion, probably a ring. A gasket and some sealer in not going to do it

Yep, I knew what you were going to find (your other thread). Even the slightest hint of overheating will warp the inner exhaust cover and it will squirt water into the exhaust ports. That spells death to the powerhead.

My father-in-law went through three of them while still in warranty. Lake Okeechobee weeds will do it to ya.
