Dang it. I should have put the steering cable back onto the outboard when it was hanging in the air before I secured it to the transom. Now there is not enough room to feed it through. Anything I can do besides pulling the motor?

Can you snake it back up into the boot and then feed to the motor, I have done that in the past, it took both my wife and I to do it, she sat forward and had the cable and slowly pulled as I feed it from the back until we got to a position that we could hook it up again.

Not easy to do, but we did it.

No that didn't work. I tried pretty hard but I couldn't get it lined up straight enough to feed in. Thanks anyway for the help. I will probably just pull it off with the tractor and get it.

Yeah it's a 5 min job if you just pull the steering cable off the helm.

It's not connected at the helm yet. I tried pulling it back and feeding it through but the hole in the splashwell doesn't line up

I see, the pic makes it look like too much cable was out and then the angle from the rigging hole and tilt tube doesn't look that much. Yeah pull the motor then before the 5200 cures.

I just did the same thing this week! I was able to just barely get it in though. Yours does not look like the same amount of room I had between the tube and transom/splash well though.

Hi coostv, yes that is my issue. I think I will modify the splashwell slightly so that I can work the cable in.
