70's Evinrude - Where is the serial number?

I have a motor sold to me as an Evirude 18hp from 1972. Where do I find the serial number?

Plate on the side of the transom bracket or stamped silver plug on the powerhead.

It was on the bracket. I must have looked everywhere but there. Thanks. I'm not a newbie at all...
