ok i have a 70hp force motor. the motor runs get when it runs but you have to let it sit for 30min before you run it again, it tries to turn but it wont. my dad thinks that it gets flooded. does that sound right? if so is there anyway to regulate the gas flow? took it to two differnt mechanics last year and they found 2 differnt problems, but they didnt fix it (figures). anyway i'm getting pretty dang frustrated and i want to get it fixed before this spring. thanks!

Re: 70hp problem

So just to be clear, you are saying that you can run it. But if you turn it off, it will not restart?

What if you turn it off and try to restart it right away?

Chances are it is a flooding situation.
The back side of the fuel pump is open to the block. If the fuel pump diaphram has a whole (very common problem), the fuel will leak into the block after you turn the motor off, resulting in a flooded condition.

A fuel pump rebuild kit from a Mercury dealer will set you back about $20.
Comes with instructions for installing it.

Good luck. Let us know how it works.
