Need a little help with my 2000 Johnson. I just got this boat about 2 weeks ago and have been doing odds and ends on it. I adjusted the timing according to the seloc book and it fires right up but it has a slight miss at idle and under throttle. When is under throttle I've noticed the motor will start creeping up in rpms on it's own but still has a miss. Compression is between 115 and 120 on all cylinders. It has new plugs gappedto .030". New fuel, filter and oil. I'm really not sure what to check or how to fix this thing. This is all with muffs hooked up.... Not with the boat in the water.

Re: 70 Johnson breaking up

follow the instructions in my sig below. you are probably running on 2 cylinders or have bad gas, your motor will probably not push a boat well, it is not good to rev motor up past 1500 RPM on muffs as there is no back pressure on exhaust.

If your talking about the part of your sig that says "you will need a DVA adapter" the instructions cut off after clean carbs properly
