i had to start a new thread on this. i have the motor wiring done and the ignition figured out ( finally ) and rebuilt the carb today and put it back on the motor. BUT..... my manual is quite blurry. i cant read what it says for the initial settings for the high speed needle..... the low speed it says 1 1/4 turn the high speed is something in the eights, but i just cant make it out.

anyone know where i should start?

Likely will tell you 5/8's, but I start at 3/4 of a turn out from lightly seated on them as my start point. Turn in, clockwise, in small increments, giving the motor time to respond, until it wants to die or backfires, then turn it back out, CCW, 1/4 turn. Within that 1/4 turn will be the ideal running position. I tend to favour RICH on my own outboards.

It will barrel test, but just be aware you will need to reset them on the water.
