Hey sp ..... you said that you needed emblems .... are yours bad or are they missing? The reason I am asking is I am trying to find out the location of the emblems on the boat. How far down from the cap and how far in from the stern. If you have emblems on your boat then you can measure that for me if you would .... please. Mine were missing when I bought her and I have a set that I want to put on.

That was from the top cap and from the stern and up from lower rub rail.
I think it was centered up on the second lap board down from top cap.

That'll work ..... is it going to be an emblem in the middle or a sticker?

I was thinking maybe make a stincil and paint it. I might post a pic on my restore thread and see how those guys would do it.
Maybe I can use the same valspar paint.

Yep a little cold. I had today off but gave up playing with the boat after a few minutes even though it is garaged. 12 below last night here, and not feeling balmy this afternoon.

Instead, on to reverse-engineering an aftermarket spring kit for Off Shore Side Planers to work on my Yellowbird Glow Birds. Custom-made tattle flags out of acrylic, and the reverse engineering makes the flag pop UP when a fish strikes instead of pop down like the Big Jons and Off Shores do.

Great Idea! then I can sit in the car and watch em! No ice fishing this year...lakes are'nt frozen enough. Kinda sad, weak winter. We havn't even hit 100 inches of snow yet. Sux for skiing, too. If we hit 60 again, I'm gonna have to get the boat ready...

Found a sign shop to make the MFG logo paint stincils . It has an adhesive on one side so you stick it fill in the paint then peel off the stincil.
I don,t think they will be to costly so if anyone is interested let me know. They also can make the MFG flags.

Hey sp .... are they going to make a stencil small enough for your steering wheel? Let me know about the flags as far as price and colors.

They say they can make any size but it can,t be to detailed. Have,nt had a chance to swing back by there but I did print a picture from a brochure of the emblem for them to go by.
By the way I have decided to use seacast instead of nida bond for the transom. I could,nt get anywhere with nidabonds sales people. How hard is it to return an email or phone call? They acted like they did,nt want to sell me anything so heck with em ! The receptionist at seacast was the nicest most helpful person I,ve ever talked to. I beleave she is the daughter of the guy that invented the stuff. She said that if I run late getting there just to give her a call and she,ll come open up the shop and even load it up for me!
Thats what I call customer service!!

If your scanned image isn't clean enough for them to use as data for a stencil, and they won't clean it up for you cheap, send it to me, I'll have our graphics person clean it up & save it in a format that works for your stencil shop. Just give me the *.jpeg or whatever format they want. What we use escapes me, that's not part of what I do.

You must be the Master of Masking! I do not see a bit of sanding dust, drips or overspray in your work area. How do you keep everything so clean? My garage has a dusty haze on everything from many previous projects!:(

By the way .. the boat is looking good! What primer did you use? Will you be sanding this primer?

What finish paint did you choose?

Great job on the underside of the deck lip. Better than "factory"! Looks nice.

Will this be a roll & tip job? Rolling lapstrake won't be easy.

You are so fortunate to have your boat indoors. I start getting queasy thinking about having to finish coat outdoors ....

My primer is 50% sanded now. I found a few dinged lap edges that I wanted to fix so that slowed me down. Plus, one afternoon I had some harsh crosslighting on my transom that revealed it wasn't as smooth as I thought! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. More filler ... more sanding ...

Good lighting is so important to achieving a good finish.
