I have a 61 Merc 200 20 HP twin with auto trans. I've owned this motor for years but never used it. Now I would like to restore it and upon closer examination there seems to be some parts missing related to the tiller handle and shifting linkage. I purchased the 65 and prior Shop manual and to my dismay the only throttle/shifting linkage system not throughly discussed is the one I have. Parts list shown on page 4C.
Can anyone enlighten me on how this mechanism is supposed to look when assembled and how it should work? There is a broken part that projects out from under the base pan which resembles some of the parts I have seen offered on eBay. It is secured by 3 bolts to the underside of the bottom pan and would support a tiller handle with a cross bolt to allow hinging. The shaft with a tab to engage the tiller is in place but the shifting linkage may not be complete or properly assembled.
Any help or suggestions of where I could find additional info would be appreciated.
