60hp runs for 30 seconds, then idles out?

I seem to be having an issue with my 60hp Merc 2-stroke... It ran fine in the fall... winterized it... started it up forgetting to connect the fuel line... ran for 30 seconds, then died out (naturally)... connected everything back up and it ran again for 30 seconds this morning but died again, and doesn't want to catch after that... it sputters like it's trying to catch. Not sure if maybe there is oxygen in the line, or ?
Someone said it might be the float needle sticking? Is that something an average joe can get to/remedy?

It seems like if the motor sits for a while, it will start up and run for a little bit, but trying to start it in succession... it won't take. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated, as I am supposed to leave for a trip on wednesday.

Thanks.

Welcome to iboats!!

Do you have good spark?
Has the compression been checked?

Could be the float sticking, if so the carb will need to be rebuilt.

Will it stay running if you prime the bulb when it starts to die? If so could be the fuel pump needs a rebuild,

sounds like the carbs could be gummed up from sitting over winter with unused fuel in them

through carb cleaning, blowing out ALL orifices, with compressed air. reassembly with a new rebuild kit.
