First of all I'm new to iboat. Not even sure if I'm in the right place to post a post? I just purchase a 6hp Evinerude tiller steer ; 6702D E08598 is on the freeze plug, I can see where there was a tag on the transom clamp, can someone tell me what year this motor is with this number? I found somewhere on the Internet that this was a 1967 model, but looking at pictures of 67 models my dog house is shaped differently and the red white and blue decals are even different, my dog house looks more like a Johnson 6 hp. Other than that when running at half throttle the carb spits, its more like a cha" cha" run cha" cha", it's quick enough to make one think it's spark related, and the rich lean knob whats it's purpose? I've turned it while running and really can't tell any difference, thanks for any info, Mason

marineengine.com list 6702 as a 1967 model, you can find parts diagrams at that same site...the knob you refer to is the idle mixture knob...check under Top Secret Files for its adjustment...also, if you'll google leeroy's ramblings he has a page under his outboard motor articles that deals with the 6hp...if you'll use the search feature on this forum you'll find a vast amount of information on the 6 hp models
