Ok, I have a 55 3hp lightwin that needs a new powerhead. Or at least I think it does, the cylinders are fairly rusty.
I can get a powerhead from a running 64 for cheap. The number from the parts diagram is different but the powerheads look identical. Will these parts intermingle?

I can't think of any reason why they wouldn't swap over. As long as the base gasket is the same and the driveshaft splines are the same, it should work.

I'm actually putting my foot in my mouth now. I see where they are different. It is different between the powerhead and the exhaust housing. Oh well, back to the drawing board.
What are the chances of this little motor running with a little bit of pitting before I go and spend money on parts that it needs?
