Started my old Evinrude for the first time in 40 years. It ran, although roughly. When checking for cooling water dischrge I noticed a freeze plug partially out of its hole and water spewing out. The plug is at the rear of the engine at the bottom of the head. Can this be easily replaced, and what procedure? Are these things easy to buy?

Easy to find - take your existing one to NAPA, even a good hardware store. Get an aluminum welch plug of the same diameter. Get a flat punch, just slightly smaller diameter than the plug. Set it in place, give it a good tap with a hammer on the punch and voila! Done!

You'll probably have to take the head off to do do this. Unless you can take the the plate off off the rear of the mtr to get at it.
