50 HP OB Brown Band Time Mark help

When piston is at TDC where should the pointer be pointed to.Reason asking is flywheel was unbolted and removed once and not sure if I am off when rebolted back on.Manual is confusing.Should it be at 0 or close.Trying to sync and time by Clams info due to no top end speed but timing is reading wrong when cranking.Replaced stator and switch box.Have puller ordered to pull flywheel the right way to install trigger already replaced rectifier also.1984 50 HP Merc OB # 6539486 Thanks.

At TDC the pointer should be at 0

Thanks Laddies.The reason I replaced all these parts was all the wire insulation was crumbled and falling off the wiring.Rectifier was melted near post and checked shorted.I figured if it was that old it was failed or ready too soon.I will re-align the fly wheel to 0 at TDC and crank it over with light on #1.I have #'s 2,3 and 4 grounded to starter bolt while cranking.<br />Thanks again.
