OK so i bought a 50 horse evinrude to put on my 17' glasspar but since im new to boats i know nothing about what type of steering components to use with it. Im taking off my dt115 and the steering cable goes through the front mount of the motor. Obvisouly 2 differnt type of steering setups btw. the 2 motors. Can I use the same steering cable and what do I need to mount for the evinrude for steering? Im broke so need cheaper ideas please

You might tell us the year or post a picture of the motor.

What you need is a stand off clamp block,it mounts to the boat, and clamps onto the cable assy ,then you need a link bar that goes to the engine from the cable.Go to the marine store on this site, look up steering parts and accessories, you should find what Im talkin about.

i hope these pics help to identify. The steering system that is currently on it is hooked up to 87 Suzuki DT115.
