Yeah, they have some funked up system up there. He did say -5"C". Whatever that is. All I know is 0C = 32F, I think... Beyond that, I'm lost......

YUP, water freezes at 0c and boils at 100c.
Metric, all base 10.

I'm sorry, I must have misread your post. Hahah....it's funny but I almost believed you to say it was "-5" as in MINUS, buwahahaha. Isn't that funny how the eyes can play tricks on you. Whew.

 .... my reaction as well ..;).. I hope we have many moons to go before our temp drops anywhere near 32F

Convert it if ya don't like Celsius...... 1.8 x (-5) + 32 = 23 F

Same formula but easier to remember and do in your head...

Double - subtract 10% - add 32 ....Gets a little goofy in the negative numbers when you are subtracting a negative though, as you are adding

Which is why almost the entire world except a few countries use metric, it makes sense.:D I do find myself talking pounds and inches instead of kilograms and centimeters though... Just habit.

i was brought up on metric and if it has to be exact then its in mm if its close then its still inches about 150mm makes no sense but about 6" sounds fine. now i live in florida and we dont use either now......."weather forcast 95 fells like 105" ...something to do with hummidity i think.........."real cold night 65 degrees with a wind chill fells like 62 so wrap up warm south florida"

Toronto is the banana belt of Canada. I don't think guys from Toronto know what short seasons really are.

I'm no fan of really hot weather ... but the thought of Toronto being the "banana belt" is just meteorologically creepy. I know Canada gets cold, but wow.

You might have to grab an extra blanket tonite! That's good sleeping weather, windows open etc...... Turned the heat on this a.m. just to take the chill out of the house....

If a positive, my formula is to just double the number and add 30. Not totally accurate, but keeps it close ... within a degree or two. Doesn't work so well for the negative numbers, though. But I am usually in Ghana, West Africa when I have to do the conversion, and they don't know what negative numbers are.

WOW, We actually are having a bit of a heat wave here.
High ridge over most of the province, dry and the forest fire index is at extreme in most areas.

Only problem is the sun sets at 7;30pm now, sure is nice in the summer when its dusk at 11;00pm

Actually, it looks like I was wrong - it is 1 hour after sunset here (MN).

Water skiing and similar acts are prohibited between one hour after sunset to sunrise of the following day

Wrong again. How could you think it would be legal to ski after sunset?

QC already covered the link to the law, and doing a quick google search there are quite a few states that are 1/2 hr to 1 hr after sunset deadlines - couple even have 1/2 - 1hr before. Its not like it goes black at sunset, there is still a fair amount of light. It is also not much of a safety issue - if there are other boats moving around then the whole point of skiing/barefooting during that time is lost.

And back to the original point of this thread. It is starting to get colder here at night, getting lower into the 40's.
