Ayuh,..... Napa filters are rebadged Wix filters,......
The Napa 1061 is the short Wix oil filter,.....
Sadly, possibly not anymore. I have not bought a Wix in a year or so but, word is going around that Napa is no longer sourcing filters from Wix. If the box isn’t marked Wix or Affinia than it’s not a Wix

I don't know who mercs current supplier for oil filters is but last I checked they were made by champ. So a merc short filter and a delco say pf454 were more or less identical aside from paint on the can. Don't over think it. If the filter fits a 5.7 it's more than fine. Engine was in production for 50 years, there are probably 100 different filters that would work just fine on it.

Ther have been a few tests or examinations of oil filters one was done by Practical Sailor and they cut open a bunch of filters to examine them. They found that the end caps on about half the Sierra oil filters they checked leaked allowing unfiltered oil to pass. They also found problems with Fram filters. None of the other filters including Mercruiser/Quicksilver were questionable in terms of construction. So go look it up & see what they said….

Also with the 4.3s that use the standard on the block filter, the Merc & Sierra filters which used to be larger are now quite small, the Wix, AC Delco & Purolator are all larger like the Merc & Sierra used to be. Not sure if it really makes a big difference because marine engines aren’t exposed to much dirt & the shorter filter might be easier to install…
