400 stringer lower unit?

I just bought a 1983 17 ft. Bowrider with a 3.0 140hp OMC400 stringer, I have an old 78 70hp. Evinrude, would it be a good idea to keep the lower unit for spare parts? I thought I read somewhere it's the same as the 400 lower unit.

I don't think there's any common parts -except maybe the drain plug.
