is it carbed or fuel injected? if carbed may just need to be reprimed after tilting fwd. the carbed versions sometimes are a bit finicky about this as the carb design is for flat level operation. are you regularly tilting it out of the water while on the lake/river? I have to ask why if that is what you are doing.

Your probably losing fuel out of the bowls with it tilted up. Make sure you pump the bulb really good when you tilt it back down to help re-fill the bowls. Are you trying to choke it when you have trouble starting it?

Yes I tried chocking, but I did not try the pupming the bulb. Is this pretty normal on the Mercs....just asking because I never had this problem a Johnson ocean runner I had that was also a carb engine
