I have a 1988 Ebbtide Riviera 180 XLS and I just ordered a new lower shift cable and I'm finding it near impossible to install the new cable. I cannot get the new cable past the two quick bends right away. Does anyone have any hints on how to get the new cable through the housing?

I just put mine through the transom. I used a bunch of dish soap to lubricate the cable.

Did you suceed with lubricant? I do have excatly the same problen, those immediate bend down and then 90 degrees up is too much..

Did you leave the 3-4" long threaded tube off?
