4.3l backfires through carb and runs rough

just replaced the pickup coil in the distributor and boat ran great for bout half an hour. then i started it back up after a short swim, was running great planned out fine then just fell on its face and now will hardly idle. it backfires throught the carb and sounds like its got a massive vacuum leak. was going to check the timing but found there was no timing tab so im working on that.... any other ideas would be very helpful!!!

Ayuh,... Water in the fuel,... Check the filter...

Ethanol based fuel...need we say more.It's taking quite a toll on everyone.Start with the basics first.

How did you time it after you had the dizzy out? Recheck your work.
