BOOOOOOM! this is EXCATLY IT and why its not "over thinking"
as i mentioned in the pics i posted - the auto ones are round at the top, this is more EGG shape which is exactly whati need

GREAT find, thank you

No no no. The PRE-BALANCE SHAFT ones are all round at the top. And all the other small block chevys are round at the top since they don't have a balance shaft. It is just the bastard 4.3L that has all the variations.

photo335306.png HELP - lol - this is a nightmare
I'm back and i need HELP bad.
The part that was said to be found was again not right (it wont fit w/ the balance shaft)
This poor mecanic has went through multiple covers and none of them are working.
Let me help explain this better with photos.
I need the metal timing cover that is EGG shape at the top (see motor picture here)
He also has these three cover that DO NOT FIT - so i think that rules out going to the auto shop as i'm not sure they make one w/ a BALANCE SHAFT

If i dont find the right cover, i have NO BOAT so this is urgent.
BLOCK #10224535
Tag number for motor F827422

Desperate for anyone's help PLEASE

This is the exact part i need (notice egg shape at top)
https://www.nlamarine.com/products/m...ant=1202848648 part #824322

Attached below are photos of my engine and the timing covers that do not fit :(

Looking at the superceedance number, it goes to 10105922

which can be found here on ebay, howver it looks like the EXACT part that wont work (non egg shape)

Your pictures on that link are the first time I have ever seen a metal balance shaft cover. All the automotive ones are plastic. I didn't know that Chevy made a metal one till this thread came up. I'll keep an eye out, but not holding much hope. to find anything different than you have found. One thought, you might call Michigan Motorz and see howe they solve this. They sell a lot of 4.3L motors.

I think I gave you a solution in post 36. What's wrong with your cover? Also could check junk yards...

I'm sorry nola mike - i thought you only posted the gasket/seal. i dont see how the cover is available.

my cover is currently the wrong cover (installed by past owner) which is why it leaks, which he most likley installed the wrong cover because he colndt find the right cover :(

Yeah, that's what I posted because unless your cover is physically damaged (or missing I guess) it should be able to be reused. Guess it's time to start scouring junkyards. The Merc engine isn't magic, you need to find a pre vortec balance shaft Chevy, don't see why that wouldn't fit.

Edit: also, that cover on the bottom of the pic showing all 3 looks like it should fit, what's the issue with that one?

Its possible, hard to get a good look at the front - engine looks WAY 10000% different but could be same timing cover.

some breaking news here - i emailed any website that had the part 824322

Must have been 6 different shops. One email me back and said they actually have a used one, i bought it, it looks EXACTLY right. time will tell fingers, crossed

I got it from a used part store
NLAmarine

looks like this nightmare might be over soon

CASE CLOSED the nightmare is over
After my mechanic going through 3 covers, and at a loss of finding the cover i needed NLAmarine had one and saved the day - we got the cover its installed and, looks great (water test this weekend()

I basically emailed every single reseller who once had the part, and only one got back to me, NLAmarine
the part number ended up being

https://www.nlamarine.com/products/...ver-824322-855400-10105922?variant=1202848648

Without them, i'd have no cover to put back on the boat motor and be in a huge stuck

fingers crossed this is over

thanks for everyones feedback and assitance

Good outcome! I believe that's the same cover as in the pic I posted above.
BTW I just bought an immaculate OMC Y pipe from them, just in case I need it in the future.

All of the changes on the 4.3s make me think...that when I have to do mine over...its going to either a re-man pre-vortec non balance shaft (what I have that was original to the boat) or a brand new GM marine 4.3. I don't think I'd have the patience for the mixing and matching when you have to search for stuff...all of the tin on my old engine is still in good shape and I have 2 nice fresh water spare 12 bolt 4bbl intakes....
