4.3 Ignition swap

Have a 1997 Star Craft with a 4.3 (262) GM. It has a failed ICM and as you know N A. from Merc. My question is has anyone had this problem and just swapped out the Thunderbolt IV ignition system and replaced with a good HEI Distributor. Doesn't seem to much sh is uld go wrong. Please if you see this not working for some reason. Would love to hear your opinion. To me it's just old school and simple. Saving hundreds of dollars.

Agreed Delco est is the way to go unless you can find a good used module on Ebay etc

A quick ebay search shows TB 4 modules (are you sure its a 4 ? would think a 97 would be a 5) $200-400.

Obviously depends on the exact module. But would keep it stock and eliminate the minor wiring mods to do the est.

Ordered a EST Delco with coil and all harnesses. Waiting for it to come in. Thanks for all the info I'm assuming wiring directions come with kit to wire, hook up tach, and set base timing? If not I will one back.
