Hi everyone, I am a new, first time boat owner. I just recently purchased a 2007 Larson SEI 180 Sport with the Volvo Penta 4.3l GL-G. I went out today and heard this terrible squeaking noise. Initially, suspected it to be belt noise, applied some belt dressing and the noise changed very slightly, but is still there and increases with higher RPM's. I've read may different possible issues on other forums, but am hoping for some advice here. I took a video today so you can hear the problem. Any advice is appreciated!

Doesn't sound like a squeal to me, more like a ticking

My bet it's the tensioner. Turn off the engine, take the belt off and spin the tensioner pulley with a cordless drill or something, see if it makes noise.

I’d take a pic of how the belt is routed and then start the engine briefly and see if it’s gone. If so then spin each accessory pulley and idler/tensioner to find the cause. An engine stethoscope is very helpful here. Could be the alternator, p/s pump, water circulating pump or even impeller bearing.

You can use a pipe or mechanics stethoscope to isolate the source of the noise. Until then it is a guessing game.
