The other day I got the carb reuilt on the 1986 4.3 LX 205, and got it fired up. It runs real nice. I had it on muffs and after running it for a bout 5 or 6 minutes noticed that the starboard side manifold and hoses were consireably warmer than the port, probably 30 to 40 degrees. What could cause this? The temp gauge came up to 160 and I shut it down.

Make sure the water hose is on fully. Mine (1991 4.3 LX 205) heats if i dont open the faucet up almost completely.

Completely normal for one elbow and manifold to get warmer than the other... Water takes the "path of least resistance", just like electrical current.

Thanks guys, I think I will replace the thermostat and water pump impeller anyways just to be safe.
