I recently came across this motor (a freebee) at a garage sale. The motor is locked up. I dropped the lower unit to make certain that wasn't the problem (it wasn't) and now plan to pull the head.
Any suggestions/recommendations?

Mix up some ATF and Acetone 50/50 and soak the pistons with that. With the head off give the pistons a LIGHT rap with a wood block and hammer from time to time. Patience!!

I just freed up a 1957 3hp Lightwin. It took a solid three weeks to get it to go. I was ready to give up on it and one day it moved.
For more torque remove the pull starter assembly and twist the flywheel with both hands.
One other thing, when I replaced the head gasket it didn't seal completely and water was leaking into one of the cylinders. I had hell starting it and it ran like crap. Took me a bit to figure that one out. The old motor runs fine now even with 50lbs of compression in each cylinder.
