own a 2005 regal 1800 with a 3.0 merc I/0. want to buy a 3 blade prop with good performance, but would like to keep the revs at WOT at a minimum . I will not be pulling skiers or tubes. What is the best size and pitch prop I should use? Would like to buy an s/s prop. Any help would be appreciated. ty,bob

Howdy Bob

Keeping rpms low on the WOT side doesn't save gas or help the motor, it actually is worst on both

To determine what pitch is needed we need some good numbers of what its doing now.
What is current WOT RPM and loaded like normal?
What is the speed at WOT using a GPS?
What type and pitch prop is on it now?

What you are asking for is a prop specifically for pulling skis or tubes.I dont think that is what you really want.A hi rpm prop is a speed prop which is easier on the motor and better fuel economy.Charlie

hi, I own a 40 foot silverton and just bought the regal as a second boat. it came with a 4 blade prop which is dinged. Previous owner took me out for a trial run,but i dont have the answers to the questions that you ask. I wont be able to register or title the boat until the end of the month. (nj motor vehicle). It was a very popular model,so Im hoping someone with the same model boat may be able to help. thanks again, the reason for asking about the wot revs was to keep it in the lower range of revs instead of near red line. He does not want one to pull skiers
I will not be pulling skiers or tubes.

The big IF
If the PO change to 4-blade and did it right then they would have dropped 2 inches of pitch. Meaning if the boat came with a 3-blade 19, they would have gone to a 4-blade 17

If they didn't do it right, then it may be same pitch

Hope someone here has the same boat to help

b29keebird Call 1800 USREGAL and ask for the parts dept.Keep trying until you get someone on the line from parts.Extremely knowledgable. They will be able to give you the original factory specs for prop.Thats what I would use.Charlie

Might be wrong..but you sure it’s a 1800 ? Not a 1900 or 1700 ? If it’s a 1900, I know of a few with different engines. The 3.0 I knew of can run either a 19 or a 21”, if same ratio.
