3 battery charging problem

All,

I have a 3 battery system in my boat. 1 starting battery that is wired to the engine. And 2 12v batteries that are wired as a 24v system to run my trolling motor. I have a 3 battery charging system installed with 3 leads to the to batteries.

Now here is the problem. I don't think the trolling motor batteries are being charged. Since the system is wired as a 24v system and the battery charger is a 3 battery 12v charging system I don't think the trolling batteries are getting charged. There is a red light on constantly when I look as the battery charger. The starting battery eventually charges and I get a green light from the charger but the two batteries (24v) system stay red. I think I need to add a battery switch to separate the 24v system into 2 12v systems? Can someone let me know if my thought process is correct and what kind of switch would they recommend. I would like to mount the switch on the outside of the boat next to the charging receptacle since the batteries are kind of hard to get to.

Thanks
John

Re: 3 battery charging problem

Justick, I'm not sure what a 3 battery charger is, but if you could add a wiring diagram, even hand drawn it would be great. A Perko Battery Selector switch would maybe work. Lot's of them on Ebay.

Look into this thread if you haven't yet. Lot's of discussions and ideas about batteries.
