3.7 Merc Carb Question

I've decided that the carb on my 3.7 litre 170 hp Merc needs to be rebuilt or replaced. Someone told me that a 180 hp Merc is the same engine with a 4 bbl carb. Is this true? If so I was thinking about getting a 4 bbl since I need to work on mine anyway. Is this a good idea or not?

Also, please don't give me any crap for having a 3.7 merc. It gets old. Just answer my question if you have useful input. Thanks.

You will need the 4bbl intake manifold for it, slightly different fuel line and carb linkage

Thanks. Any idea where I should look for one. Is it worth the extra 10 hp.

you wont notice those 10hp enough to justify the money spent. You might gain 1mph on top end

Okay, I guess I won't get a 4 bbl. More trouble than it's worth. Can someone recommend to me the best, most complete carb. rebuild kit. Thanks.
