Well, forget trying to find an automotive replacement. Check Craigslist, ebay, etc for another 3 liter marine engine.

Oh yeah, welcome to the forum! :)

Re: 3.0L Mercruiser

Thanks for the welcome. I am on many car forums as well as Salt water fish forums but this is my first boat forum. So there is no possibility of boring a 2.5 and using the 3.0 crank and pistons. The engine that was in the boat was not winterized and cracked. It is in a 99 Mirada. Also I was curious on more info on Miradas as I can't seem to find any.

Could I use a 3.0 from any year or do I have to use a certain one?

If I'm not mistaken, all the 3.0 liter blocks are the same - just be sure to transfer the "stuff" from your current engine to the new block and you should be fine.

Re: 3.0L Mercruiser

Is there a place I can look to find out what years had what blocks and if they changed them from year to year? I found a good deal on a longblock from a 94 searay and my boat is a 99 Marada If that motor would work I could pick it up for a good price and be up and running in no time.

Ayuh,...

Those vintages use the Flywheel mounted couplers,...

At the very Worst,....
You'll need the Flywheel from the New motor with it...

Re: 3.0L Mercruiser

Ok so i could just take the flywheel off the motor in my boat and be ok. I figured that but wasn't sure if they had made any changes to the crank. But from what I am finding in my research they are all the same.
