Re: 3.0l Breaking up when warm

Oh I didn't realize it was supposed to be done warm, didn't think it made a difference. there was no fuel pump when I tested it anyway lol

I had taken the old pump apart to see inside so I couldn't compare them side by side but the old one was in rough shape. the aluminum had oxidized and the steel parts were rotted pretty bad and there was grainy almost sandy kinda gunk in it. I think I'll rebuild the carb again because last year I had a lot of that gunk in it. Alot of the rubber inside the pump was also looking rough. the boat had sat for 5-6 years before i bought it so the gas was bad (hence the new carb) and I'm thinking there was water left in the fuel pump somehow

the reason i ask about the pump is the rattle could be the plunger in the pump hanging up and the cam rod banging against it

you will know with the new pump if that was the issue

ah good point! the sound seemed to be coming from that side of the engine. I might hook it up to the muffs tomorrow and check it out. Its supposed to he hot as hell tomorrow so I might just sit in the A/C though.
Thanks for all the help by the way, shoulda joined here 3 years ago when I started with the boat!
