3.0 l chevy carb adjustment

would anybody know the adjustment for the mixture screws on a 3.0 l chevy engine? it's a 1977 140 hp with an omc stern drive. it seems to be running rich at low speed . if anyone could help me , it would be greatly appreciated.

You have to adjust the carb to your engine. The manual gives you a preliminary adjustment that will get it running. But that is all.
Before you go adjusting the carb, how long since the last tuneup, is the dwell and timing right, is the choke working. If that isn't done, no amount of idle mixture adjustment will help.

Why do you think it?s running rich, black smoke, smell raw gas? The carb is not going to all of a sudden go out of adjustment and start running rich. What usually happens is the carb starts to get plugged up from dirt or sediment or there is water in the gas?..
