Hey guys, got an update and question. For a backyard mechanic kinda guy, I have determined that the 140 in my 76 Silverline is saveable.

As far as intakes go, are they interchangeable? As in, can you take an intake off a newer 3.0 that’s got the large base carb and bolt up to my motor? Just having a hard time finding a suitable small base Rochester to put on this thing but the large base ones, there seems to be a plethora of choices.

There are 2 or 3 different risers used. One style that is probably like you have where it goes straight back and has a small outlet. A second style that has a larger opening but goes off to the side and I think a third that uses a different bolt pattern on the riser base. As long as you get something that will fit your old riser your golden. Not sure you can swap the exhaust tube that mounts to the transom assembly and use the newer style riser.

The split is 1990 and below or 1991 and above

For your 1976 motor, any 1990 and older manifold will work. Just get a new one
