270 vibration? U-joints?

i can feel a vibration that can be felt through the hull. I’m thinking maybe it’s the U-Joints. Is leg removal required to check the U-Joints?

you are supposed to be pulling the drive every year to inspect the u-joints and PDS. and you are supposed to be replacing the bellows every 2-3 years.

On a 270, you don’t pull the drive unless you have to for other reasons. To check u-joints, PDS bearings and replace bellows. You just pull the upper. I think the “how to” is in the sticky’s.

So I pulled the upper. The drive home and U-joints literally look brand new. I guess I should try a prop? Any other ideas on vibration?

Grab the shaft coming out of the boat that the u joints slip over and make sure there’s no play, up and down, right and left, in and out.
Check engine alignment, instructions are in the sticky’s.
