Like all I'm a newbie here and looking for some input. I have a chance to get a 27' cabin cruiser with trailer. Boat is gutted no tanks or interior . The hull appears to be good but there is no gas tanks nothing in it. No motor. It's a fly bridge design with a really large cockpit. I really like the design and think as a completed boat it would be perfect cruising the bays fishing etc for me and my family. Cost for me to obtain is minimal.

Its set up for Ob motors and it looks like used motors are going to be in the 2K range for 100hp older motors. Is it worth getting since it is basically a hull only or should I keep looking for something with power?

Sounds pretty cool. Your biggest concern is going to be rot in the stringers, deck and/or transom. If it exists you need to decide if you're capable of repairing it. It is a big job, though do-able.

A 27' motor vessel is expensive in just about every way you look at it... to restore, to power, to run, to tow, to store, and to maintain. A shell of a hull with nothing in it means the tear down has been done, which would save some sweat, but do you have any references for the restore? This can be a difficult thing as you find yourself trying to reinvent the wheel.

I'm just saying proceed with caution. The big ones have a lot of atttraction, like gravity, that pulls you to them. I understand, really. Just know everything you do with it will require more resources than with a smaller boat.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info and links. I'm going for a more extensive look Saturday and will snap some pics.

As far as size we are a family of six with 3 being girls. Moms reqiurements say it must have a potty & size to feel safe. I was hoping I could find an older one and put a litlle elbow grease and small amount of money and have something nice VS having to buy ayacht.
