I recently Re-Installed the lower unit on my 1998 25hp MSHW 2cyl outboard and it seems to want to jump out of gear especially reverse. If I hold the manual shift firmly it maintains buts jumps out otherwise. As far as the reverse shift lock wire goes I am not 100 percent sure it is correct either. does the ring of the wire over the shift shaft go between the jamnut and connecting sleeve or at the lowest point below the jamnut and above the boot spring assembly? What tweeking do I need to do at this point? Thanks to all.
