I have a 1995 bass tracker 25hp mercury tracker 2 stroke cycle and it will crank but never start. I have cleaned the carburetor checked to see if everything was alright on which it was I did however changed the primer bulb, checked the fuel filter which was good and I also changed the Seloniod, rectifier, coils, everything is right with the CDI. Everything in the lower unit looks right which I did put in a new water pump kit. When It cranks though, I have noticed that it does want to run but won't. what could be the problem as to why it won't run?

you do mix oil with gas when fueling

Kill switch?
is gas getting to the carb?
Is gas getting to the cylinder?
Do you have a good strong spark on each cylinder?
Are you using the choke / primer/high idle lever?

What is your starting procedure?

compression readings?

my starting procedure is I pump the primer bulb till it gets tight then I pull to prime counter-clockwise and pull then I put a marine Raider motor flusher down in the lower unit connected to my hose to get water in there when I began to try to run it. (the motor flusher looks like water muffs). Once I turn the key you can hear a good crank out of it but it will just not run. You can hear that it wants to but just doesn't. There's a new carburetor kit in there as well. I flushed all the old gas that was in there and put new gas with new oil in there today but still nothing.

As Roscoe said...start by following the gas. Is it going from bulb to fuel pump? Is it making it from pump into the carbs?

If so, check for good spark on the plugs.

Have you checked compression on cylinders?

To run you need spark, fuel, and air....

I followed the gas and there's nothing clogged, the gas is going in just fine. There is also a good spark on the plugs, I checked them on OEMs, and they are good. I bought all new coils so I don't think that is the issue and the spark plugs give off a good spark. But I have not checked the compression on the cylinders which I have to watch a video on how to do that. If that were the case how would you fix that?

I just checked to see if there is compression in the cylinders and it's good. I am planning on checking the lever to see if there is something wrong but are there any other ideas on why it will not run?

So have you tried just putting some gas in carb (pour a small amount, a small amount) to see if it will start even just a little that way. If so that would indicate no fuel flowing. If you get a start that way I would clean tank and intake line, if possible try a new tank and fuel line, replace fuel pump, check under cowling fuel lines and replace if they haven't been they could be breaking down on in the inside and sending particles into fuel system clogging up all the filter and carb. After all that I would replace fuel filter again and clean carbs again.

Don't use starting fluid on a 2-stroke. if you want to try this idea, take some 50:1 gas/oil mix and spray a little in the carbs and see if it starts. If so, you know you are not getting enough gas to the carbs.

Ok, so I figured out that the spark plugs are not giving out any spark. but there is gas going into the cylinders it's just that the spark plugs will not give out any spark. Do you guys have any idea how to fix that problem? There is a brand new Rectifier, Selonoid, Fuel Filter, and the plugs of the CDI are well connected. The spark plugs are really good.

How did you test the spark? I would be looking at the kill switch. Is the saftey kill switch in place. I don't know how to overide the kill switch but that's what I would figure out how.

Watch at your own risk. :) Possible mis-information from a cadet. It does talk about following the yellow wire and has shameless attempts to get you to buy stuff.

That is a bad video that has nothing to do with a 25 hp Merc. Disconnect the black with yellow stripe wire from the cdi box.

Alright, so I recently a few weeks back put a new Trigger and thought that would solve the issue of the "No Spark" problem but it did not. Any suggestions on what I should do next to make it run again?
