25 hp Evinrude won't start HELP

Model # E25ELECE, has been sitting for 2 years, checked spark ok, gets gas, pops and bangs when trying to start, thought was a timing issue, replaced the key still same thing. What else can make it do this? Please help

Are the wires on the right plug?

Good point JB. The top/upper plug should have the wire with the little metal clip on it. Maybe they got switched. May need to rebuild the carb too if its been sitting for 2 years. Spitting and coughing may be due to "lean sneeze", in which the motor is starved or fuel (possible due to a clogged or dirty carb). These links should help a bit. Keep us posted.

Also, the wires from the powerpack to the coils could easily be crisscrossed.

I will check that as soon as I get home from work thanks again. I am also going to check for a blown head gasket between the cylinders. my coils are reading 130 ohms i'm going to try a different meter and recheck, they should be at 240

Gave up on the 25, got a deal on a RUNNING 40hp Evinrude
