Re: 225 Running Hot

Gaskets fixed the issue---Boat now runs at 160 temp with a water pressure of about 12psi at 3000rpm---Mechanic says gaskets probably blown for some time by the looks of them--Back on the water---WOO_HOO----look out fish here I come.

naveall43 - You didn't get any answers probably because you hijacked this thread. You will do better by starting your own thread. I know this is a little late, but I just read this thread.

I don't have an answer for you because I am doing my own research on this subject.

Good Luck!

The correct tstat opening is around 145 degrees. I may be mistaken but doesn't the gearcase with the bullet holes ram pick up use the volumetric impeller, I remember you shouldn't swap the alpha centrifical impeller for mercruiser volumetric not sure same for outboard maybe?

You can not interchange the impellers(OB or MC) as they are a different size and use a different impeller housing and lower unit casting. That the reason OB's using the "floppy" impeller have lower pressures.
