The transom is very easy in that boat. The only rivets you would have to deal with is to take the splash pan out if you choose to remove it. You don't have to but does give more room to work. Don't let rivets scare you as they are easy to deal with. What part of Ohio are you in. Close to Cinci myself.

Best way to keep us here is to post tons of pictures. We love pictures and it is far easier to help if we have some idea what the problem is and where it is located on your particular boat.

I will help any and all I can. My boat is almost exactly the same. Right now its sitting completely gutted waiting for extra cash to start rebuild. If you buy this boat I will be asking for some info from you also as mine had a couple of areas that were to far gone to know whats is suppose to be there.

Well , she's mine ! I got it in the driveway , and wondering where to start... the floor is soft towards the rear of the boat , I know full well that any small repair I begin will turn into a full tear down. If I start to pull up carpet and remove side panels , I know I will not be able to stop there. This boat will not fit in my garage either so I will have to have covers made. I had a neighbor stop over and tell me not to mess with the floor at all , just outfit it with a decent outboard and go fish , but I would feel better knowing everything's solid. I dont plan on purchasing an outboard until next season so I have plenty of time to play with the floor, keep in mind I have a boat in my garage gassed up and ready to rip. So I can go fishing when I please and Im in no hurry, I have a feeling Im going to be keeping this one for a while , so Im probably going to buy a real nice outboard. Im literally lost on where to start

Not bad at all (at least on the surface)!

Interesting that the previous owner left the outboard bracket and trim assembly on the transom.

Thats because the outboard was STOLEN! Some scumbag cut everything and left in a hurry with an outboard!

Do you think someone could use the trim assembly? Is that something worth selling?

Congrats on the new boat. Wish mine looked as good as yours. I would replace the rear floor, check the transom and replace if needed and go ahead and throw a motor on it and use it.

Congrats on the new boat. I have an'86 Sylvan Offshore 22' with a 3.0L I/O. I'm somewhat north of you in Ontario and primarily use mine in Lake Huron or the St. Clair River. Have on occassion been down to Lake Erie walleye fishing. As someone mentioned earlier the Sylvan Offshore is almost identical to the Starcraft Islander. When I bought mine, the previous owner had replaced the floor from the cabin wall aft. The pics he showed me made it look like a very simple project. All the side panels are screwed in place and remove quickly. It handles rough water fairly well when under power but bobs like a cork when drifting. Pricing is going to be governed by your area. These Sylvans up here around that age are going for a lot more than your sellers asking price, $5-7K. in very good condition. If you have any questions about the Offshore, just PM me.
