20hp mariner 1986

i believe this is the timing linkage that broke. i do not know what it connects to there is just a little ball that broke off. can anyone tell me what part i am looking for so i can get this boat on the water. please help

Depending on which you have, you should be able to get it in either of these two:

THROTTLE AND SHIFT LINKAGE (ELECTRIC)
THROTTLE AND SHIFT LINKAGE (MARINER)(MANUAL)
