What do you NASCAR guys do on weekends (edit: to fill your sports need) now that the season is over? I feel for you all, especially WIMUSKY.

Don't feel sorry for me, you're probably being facetious lol, I've distanced myself about the time iBoats started the fantasy league. I was a huge NASCAR fan for many years. Attended the fall Talladega race on a regular basis even tho it was a 2 day drive just to get there... Have plenty of memorabilia from Jeff Burton When he started in the Busch series and thru Cup. Never got his autograph, but did get Jack Rousch at Dega. Signed my #99 Exide shirt. Was an Earnhardt Sr fan too along with Kulwicki etc.........

But most of the tracks are 1.5 miles. Boring to watch on tv, may not be bad if I was at the track. It would be like a Feature race at a dirt track. Then NASCAR couldn't leave anything alone. Constantly changing the rules, even mid season. As the stands emptied and were partially torn down, I left too.

Used to tape the races and zip thru them commercial free, but even quit doing it. Besides, up north if the weather is nice, I'd rather be outside. Don't get many nice summer days except July. So that's the scoop. Oh, let's not forget segment racing, which eliminated phantom cautions and the playoff.

So I fill my sports need with football and basketball. Love to watch college football and the NFL. Into NFL fantasy. Although, the NFL is getting out of hand too. They keep it up with the ridiculous rules and they'll start losing their viewership like NASCAR, if it hasn't already happened. College basketball is big on my list too. And the local dirt track racing which is way more fun than NASCAR. So there ya have it! lol

While it may seem like am a Nascar addict, I'm not. I just spend too much time in front of this computer and since most races are on Sunday, it's a day off since I don't go fishing or boating on the weekends. I go out when the water is less crowded on weekdays.

Well I have been watching, since the early 70's and have been fortunate to meet and become friends with many of the drivers over the years. Being a wounded vet, does give you some perks at times, did a lot of sports shows and have talked at a lot of them, and one thing that goes hand in hand is hunting and NASCAR.

Most of the drivers I know have since retired and in one case, died :blue: But I do keep in touch with quite a few of them.

But after the last couple of years, if my boat motor had not gone belly up, I would be on the lake fishing when the cars are running, I enjoyed Xfinity far more this year than I did Cup and I can't imagine it getting more exciting in the future, so other than a few of the big crown jewel races, I don't know that I will be watching so much anymore.

Thanks for you comments guys, very interesting to say the least and gives some insight in your personal lives, not too much though. NASCAR is pretty big around our little as in only 45,000 citizens, the square mileage is very big. We have 2 tracks right here from me within 30 minutes. One is a paved mile and 1/2 I believe, Jakasa Raceway. We have 2 or 3 Canadian NASCAR series races there every year. It has changed ownership and was silent for a few years. Going strong with the investment from 2 local guys that own the cigarette factory on the Rez and they have the bucks, big bucks. They spent millions refurbishing the facilty and repaving the oval. They stepped in and saved the track as it was earmarked to dig up and mine limestone. The track is sold out for our Canadian Series NASCAR races, it was my Fathers Day gift to Dad to take him to a race for an hour or so right up to his 80's until he couldn't get around well any longer. Many names in the big show raced here over the years. The 2nd is a dirt track on the 6 Nations Reservation. That is a lot of fun every Saturday night and we don't get there enough. Once in a while retired NASCAR drivers like Tony Steward show up to race on the dirt, then they sell out. Ask someone in the Toronto area and they have no idea what NASCAR is unless you mention The Daytona 500. 12 years ago there was a big plan to build a Super Speedway in Niagara Falls Ontario and that died along with NASCAR's popularity. The local stuff I enjoy when we get there, NASCAR in the US not so much. Time outs in auto racing, come on man! Next will be crew chiefs throwing the challenge flag onto the track.

MTboatguy, thank you for your service and sacrifice.

I remember a few years back when someone threw a sneaker on the track and Danica ran over it at Montreal. She was leading at the time, hit the thing and tore something up. Never heard of the throwers nationality, but he or she was stupid.

Of course we have video. :D

+2.

Probably catch about 25% of 25% of the races on the TV. Don't have cable or a dish. Did not stream any races this year. Unless it is raining or snowing I'm usually doing something else. I do catch bits on MNR or PRN while running errands, no one else in the family wants to watch or hear it.

The YouTube review is a nice way to catch up and not waste 3 or 4 hours.
