I Have always been a big fan of 5.0
They can take some punishment are are fairly cheap and easy to get more out of.

here (central TX) the GM engine shops far outweigh the Ford 5.0 shops, I love both engines

Has there been any issues with the 6.2? I thought trucks had some? Maybe newer ones?

after 2013 they have issues w/ AFM (auto fuel mgmt) that would damage pushrods and lifters

From memory, the outward visibility in the mustang is better. Otherwise it depends which engine type you like better. The 5.0 puts down higher power a little longer and further up in the RPM range than the 6.2.... They are both pretty even honestly. The mustang is a hair quicker as the engine is more optimized and tuned for the platform/chassis/driveline in my opinion.... Again, Fords tuning out the door is damn good.

went for a 2017 GT 6 speed auto, 5.0 435 hp. 42000 miles, bumper to bumper , 6 speed autos less problems than the newer 10 speeds, 5.0 less issues

Yeah. Don't get me wrong, I'm a small block/GM guy myself as they just fit damn near everywhere. But stock for stock the quad cam is just better. When you get into modding then it doesn't really matter so much the engine but rather how deep your pockets go. Both platforms make a lot of power on factory parts and will last. Sky is the limit beyond that.

I'm not going to get into a battle as far as power or anything, but to me, ~400 HP is right in the sweet spot for a street vehicle. Those GTs are fun.

FoMoCo is now the ONLY maker faithful to the muscle car faithful and therefore the only one that will get my money.

There always been a Mustang even though there was that little distraction called the oil embargo in 73/74…and now…no Hemi Challenger (prediction sales will tank) no more Camaro (other than trucks their line up is a snooze) and there is Mustang complete with a bellowing V8. So yeah they will get my money….FoMoCo is faithful to the faithful!

Yeah but they do really try to push that muscle car as a sports car... which it isn't even close to being. And they have for the last 15 years or so now. Call it a pony car.

But yes, aside from the mustang II, which they'd have been better off not making at all and the mach E... which is honestly closer to a modern pinto but they're just too afraid to call it that becuase the truth hurts... they have done their best to have a steady lineage. Which I respect.

I’m no GM fan, although I work at a GM dealer in the service department. The trucks aren’t that good. 6.6L gas is about the best engine they produce now. The new Traverse is a game changer. I nearly bought a Traverse ZR2, but $55k I decided it wasn’t a good idea. Wife loved it tho
