Hello, The starter on my 2010 40ELPT is starting to act up, needs the tap once in a while to get it going. The local marina wants close to $700 (Canadian pricing) for new which I feel is excessive. Any recommendations on a good reliable aftermarket brand until I can get the original rebuilt. I was on Amazon but not sure as they can sell a lot of garbage. The OEM Part # is 50-893888T any cross reference available ??Thx

???----I am simple.-----I would take the starter apart for inspection / testing.-----Could be as simple as a broken wire.-----You have had your battery load tested ?-----Wires / connections all clean and tight.-----No need to rush out for a new starter without some simple inspection I think !

Thanks for the reply, Im 99% sure its internal in the starter because when I turn the key sometimes you just hear a "zing" sound and the starter gear does spin but will not raise to engage the flywheel. A little tap on the starter shaft gets her going. Maybe a flat spot or a weak solenoid ??? Battery and connections are all good.

I finally got around to inspecting the starter, looks like it needs a new pinion / Bendix gear. The inside bushing is worn and falling apart. Anyone know where I can get a replacement, Im running into dead ends.

What is your engine serial number?
Do you have the part number?
There are 2 other aftermarket part brands available that are a lower cost for a new starter if interested in knowing.

Serial # 1C131602. I dont have a part #, closest I can find online is a DV528 but that is for 115-225hp 2 stroke.
