2010 mercury 250hp pro-xs running rough

I was putzing along and felt the engine seemed to be shaking a bit more then usual, and running a bit inconsistent. I decided to take it for a rip and it was much slower then normal in picking up speed and topped out at 4500 rpms instead of the normal 5500. Boat only got to 40 mph as opposed to the normal 50mph. During the pickup the motor was definitely shaking more then usual. What is this most likely?
