cheers Bob,
i have done just that, i emailed bayliner, Terry from there was great and has given plenty of advise,
most of the motor parts are in the boat to be honest. i am no expert but i think some will be ok and others will need replacing.
ill keep this updated as i go.

cheers for the help though. its been great

yeah i agree, upgrade..... if this engine is toast, or even if i can rebuild it, i would not mind upgrading to some thing with a bit more up and go.....
how do the 4.3 merc compare to a 350 Chev, i live the sound of a 350 Chev more than a 4.3 ltr Mercruiser haha
also chev's seem to be easier and cheaper to get parts and info on here is Australia.

If I remember correctly, the 3.0L uses a front mount and the 4.3L and up use side motor mounts. Also the gear ratio would not be the same.

PaJon is correct on both counts (at least from what I usually see), but going by your pics it looks like that isn't the case in this boat. I know that my boat has a 3.0 but also has the mounts for the 4.3. on the side.
