2007 Bayliner 175 Deck Restoration - HELP NEEDED

I have a very rotten wood deck in the aft section in front of the engine compartment. After ripping up the carpet, I wanted to saw into the deck to see how bad it was below but don't have any clue where the stringers are or how it was put together.

I'm looking for any resource that will show what's underneath the deck, how best to cut, and how best to remove and replace the deck.

My best guess is that the wood deck was covered in carpet and then slid into place under the aft seats and engine compartment and then nailed into place.

Hey, my restoration is actually on a Chaparral currently. Typically you'll have either 2 or 4 stringers with the middle 2 providing the outline of your ski locker/storage and gas tank in the middle. I can imagine with you seeing that type of rot already a stringer replacement may be in your future anyways, so if you cut into them a little I'm sure it'll be fine lol.

Mine's a Chaparral as well. like bpounds1991 stated, usually you can see where the stringers are by looking into the ski locker. It will be helpful for us to help you by seeing some pics of what you are dealing with. You can cut a square hole in the plywood deck by setting a circular saw at the depth of only the thickness of the plywood. Pry that section out and keep taking little cuts. Most of us really couldn't see how the boat was constructed until we dug in and did some exploratory cuts.
